have to do with it having a tumor? i took my cat to the vet today and it has a tumor(which was totally unexpected). why is it scratching?whats the connection?

Bartonella henselae is the causative agent of cat-scratch disease (CSD), which usually manifests as acute regional lymphadenopathy. The causes of cervical lymphadenopathy, with special regard to CSD, were investigated in a study of 454 patients who presented with unclear masses in the head and neck from January 1997 through January 2001. Sixty-one patients (13.4%) experienced CSD; 54 (11.9%) had primary lymphadenopathy due to other infectious agents, and 41 (9.0%) had lymphadenopathy that occurred in association with primary infections of other organs. For 171 patients (37.7%), the cause of the cervical lymph node enlargement could not be found. B. henselae DNA was detected in extirpated lymph nodes only during the first 6 weeks of lymphadenopathy, which indicates that the results of polymerase chain reaction strongly depend on the duration of illness. CSD should be included in the differential diagnosis of adenopathy in the otorhinolaryngologic patient population, to avoid unnecessary treatment.

he is allergic to his flea collar
cats can scratch themselves raw from nervous issues to any health issue. If you found a tumor today, the cat may have felt something was wrong and out of nervousness, did this.
Without more information (such as, does he wear a collar?) it is difficult to say. Perhaps something in the tumor itches him. Or maybe he has an allergy or skin condition. Your vet can answer this question best.
Tumours are strange things, they can cause all kinds of strange sensations. I met a Doberman once who had a tumour on her spine and had lost use of her back legs - she had chewed two of her toes right off. Not much feeling in her feet you see, except strange tingling probably - self-mutilation is not uncommon in animals. Presumably your cat's tumour has been itching.

it may just b from the tumor irritating the skin. i hope ur cat will be ok.
It's growing underneath and pressing on organs and stretching the skin. It irritates. Check with your vet to make sure it's OK, but you might want to put a little lotion to ease the tension of the skin. And how about surgery to remove the tumor? Possible?
