What do I do for a cat bite on my arm? It hurts really bad!My 22 yr. old girl cat bit me on the way to the Vet

She probley had a few more weeks left in her but we were taking my 17 yr. old girl cat in to be put to sleep cuz she got hurt so I figured we may as well have Franki put to sleep also so they could go together . Well she was very mad @ me and she bit the crap out of my arm and it feels really weired and hurts something feirce! What do I do? The Vet said they wrer going to send her head in so they could test her brain for rabies, is this a normal thing they do?
Answers:
Euthanizing is the only way to test for rabies (they need the head). Regarding your cat bite - go to the hospital. Cat bites can be fatal - seriously. If you start to see a red line go up your arm - you are in trouble! I wouldn't wait for that either - get to the hospital!

Good luck, and sorry about your kitty:(
It is a normal thing. Like if you were bitten by a squrril, they could catch the squrril and take it in. For your cat wound, I would go to the hospital or Dr Office
THey alway s send these things in fro rabies when someone gets bit...definately wash it...if it get infected go see a doctor...they can be dangerous..especially if it was a outdooor cat...they get different things in their mouth...keep a close watch on it, i know someone who went to the hospital because they didn't get it checked, and it got infected...Careful, and GOOD LUCK
anytime an animal bites it needs to be reported and the animal quarantined, but if the animal is being euthanzied then yes the head is sent into to a Rabies lab. you probably need some antibiotics from your physician and keep an eye on it for extreme swelling or redness.
That is the only way to test for rabies. Did the vet tell you to go see your doctor ? If not he should have. Cats have very dirty mouths lots of bacteria, imagine you have 22 years worth of bacteria in your arm it sounds infected and you will need antibiotics. If you don't get yourself to a doctor soon you can get blood poisoning .. You should always see a doctor for a cat bite no matter how minor. Good luck and Take care
Go to the hospital!!! Cat bites can be very serious--a friend of mine almost had to have her finger amputated after her cat bit her. Clean it with alcohol as best you can, but definitely seek professional medical attention ASAP.
Yes you will probably need medical attention but you can soak the hell out of it now. Take a large bowl and fill with very hot water and soap or epsom salts. Then soak it till it looks wrinkly. Do this maybe 3-4 times a day till you can get to the dr. You will more than likely need antibiotics for the possible Cat Scratch Fever, my husband got it from cat bite and we did not get treated right away so he was burdened with abcesses under his arms for many many months until we finally went to his dr. and the only thing that could explain it was the earlier untreated cat bite.
