We use to go to the pet shop and buy the wee sets you can get for cats. At Christmas there is selection boxes for cats!! So cool.
Unfortuately our Paddy died 2 years ago.
Try the pet shop.. he'll not even know though...

awwww!! you sweet cat mommy!!! i celebrate my boys birthday too..i have 5 babies 4 were born on the same day oct.19th mumma cat doesnt have a birthday :( well of course she does but i rescued her as a pregnant stray so i dont know anything about her..we celebrate her birthday whenever we choose LOL. now we buy them a few toys, scratching post (dont waste your money carpets and couches are much better according to them) also they rather just have a pack of baby bottle rubber nipples and a few baby socks..i usually make them a cake..i make it with bisquik as the dough base and i use haddock but u can use any meat/fish then they each put thier paw print on thier cookie/cake and we bake them at 350 degrees and they love these!! plus they helped make them..give him extra attencion on his birthday and if u dont already allow him to have sleep overs in your bedroom that let him on his birthday! cuddle up and watch animal planet and i would say eat popcorn but your cat would rather have tuna fish..would u allow him to eat a can of tuna in your bed? well thats up to you LOL. wish him a happy birthday for me!!
My cats favorite toy which I bought them one Christmas is mostly home made. It is a full bag of cat nip, not opened and tied inside two of my (clean) socks so it doesn't split and make a mess everywhere.
It's their favorite toy and they still play with it daily 5 years later!
I have bought them all kinds of other toys over the years and they get bored of those very quickly and hide them lol.

glad i'm not the only great softie! i usually treat mine with a small tin of pink salmon mashed up, they go MAD for it, and it's not over the top money wise either..
for christmas, i got my cat a cat condo and he loves it! hot little mice hanging from the roof, a nice little hide-a-patch for some extreme catnip smelling, the works lol
we are getting our cat a box of shredded wheat for her birthday on Friday because she likes the wrapping on the cereal, we just roll it in to a ball and throw for her and she plays with it for hours
A tin of salmon or trout toys treats
give him lots of love and affection just sit with him awhile and brush him too
