What do you think of animal testing...?

I'm doing a paper on medical law and ethics, and i'm choosing to do my research on nimal testing. i think its obviously wrong, and unethical, but at the same time there have been advances in the medical field by animal testing. i still think its wrong and am trying to still argue for the animals in the paper, but i need research. do you have any helpful information or sources for animal testing/animal cruelty. also how do you feel and think about animal testing, be specific please..?
Answers:
I think that the line needs to be drawn mainly between the cause of the testing - if it's cosmetic, like for shampoo or for skin creams or any of that, it's wrong. If it's for medicine, like lab tests and such that can save many lives, I think that is OK just as I believe stem cell research is.

But I'd like the scientists to keep it to lab rats/mice, which they almost always do because they're easily reproduceable among other advantages.
i guess it's ok because we have to have something to test our products on, but then again i don't like it.
I think it is terrible. It is very wrong also we should not be testing it out on living creatures. But I do think it is better then testing it out on humans but the people who do make it so they can tested on animals so have things get tested on them. But that is just my opinion
i don't like it but it's better than testing things on humans
I THINK its WRONG because
we should have people
allowing themselves
to be tested i mean they dont even give them a choice
Dude that's rude! Why test our products on poor helpless animals, that's not nice! Besides it's not even benefiting them!
Better them than me.

The funny thing is that there are hypocrites who are against animal testing but in favor of stem cell research. Seems like someone who is in favor of stem cell research shouldn't care about doing research on some animals.
I think it is cruel, inconsiderate and un-humane. I mean, if they put a wrong ingredient in what they are testing, they kill innocent animals! Thank you for taking a stand against this.
I feel unless it is for medical use, it is wrong. For example testing make-up on animals is wrong. However I feel that if doctors are pretty convinced the medicine will work, they should have the right to test it on animals, however they should try to do it as less as possible. And they should find animals from pounds who are going to be put down anyway instead of breeding their own dogs just to die. I am a huge animal lover and it makes me sad, but I also know how important medical research is and that animals could help save hundreds of lives. Sorry I didn't have any sources for you, but hopefully this will help.
when you think about, we have million's of Mice, Rat's, Monkey's and Rabbit's in the world and it's not as if there going extinct any time soon, would you rather them test on Rare%26Nearly extinct Animal's or human's?
www.peta.com has some good resources for u. and i know what ur thinking, crazy peta people, but most of them are just people who dont like to see animals suffer. they're not that strange at all. i am personally very opposed to it, because an animal cant deal with the risks or make a decision. i dont see a difference in that and the nazis doing horrible experiments on those in concentration camps except the species. they may have learned a great deal medically, but was it worth it? i would most certainly say no. i beleive the difference between medical experiments and torture is that the person/animal being tested on is consenting and since animals cant consent, i see most animal testing as a form of torture.
I suggest you visit http://www.peta.org
anmal testing is real bad.. cause your killing animals

almost most of our animals are gone..

now cows are dieing out
thats why we see an increse in milk and cheese price.

we need to save animals

it is also good at the same time because were finding new discoveris of medicine

it could go wither way

our lives or animals?
u pick
Quite frankly, I don't think we should test our stupid products on animals or humans. We need to test them on something enviromentally friendly, and we shouldn't put our animal friends in danger. Too many animals die every year because some product testing project went wrong. Good Luck on defending animal rights in your paper!
There is a pharmaceutical/medical device company (I know a guy who works there) that does animal testing and it's awful. They test suture material on beagles. They cut them up and suture them and wait for reactions. When the testing is over they euthanize them and throw the bodies in their on-site crematorium. They buy these dogs from a puppy mill that exists just to supply test animals. It makes me sick. I'm not naming the company because I don't want legal trouble. But it's in North New Jersey. I'm sure it's true of many of those companies.
There have been TOO many cases of animal tsting just for the sake of animal testing -- wih nothing but pain and the horror of animals being killed (not always humanely) after the "testing" is done.

Animals also have been used in research for drugs that in the end either have MANY warning labels OR are pulled from the market because they are UNSAFE for humans -- animals died for this....

I don't believe that animals used in research are expendable. I also don't believe that animals are good indicators of what to expect in a HUMAN.

Google "Henry Spira" - he exposed some brutal animal testing and was able, with the help of others, to close several labs. Here is a brief (but VERy good) bio on Henry Spira:

There are also videos on animal research -- I cannot help but CRY when I see those kittens crying -- if you heard those kittens cry you would understand that this is a cry for compassion and mercy -- a cry to "please STOP HURTING ME !" -- not the usual kitten-type of mewing/crying.

Physicians for Responsible Medicine has a great website that says more about Animal Resarch.

PETA also has some info about animal testing:

I hate animal testing!!! They don't understand what is being done to them or why..and I doubt very much if they care that they may be helping humans. At least humans can decide whether or not they want to be "guinea pigs"...animals have no choice!!!
