What do I do for crusty kitten eyes?

One of our cats had 2 kittens. I noticed at about a week old the one had a swollen eye...They opened there eyes a few days ago and now his one eye is crusted shut. I thought maybe Upper Respiratory but the other kitten and the rest of the cats are all fine. Any ideas.
Answers:
I would just wet a cloth and wipe it clean everyday, if that doesn't help you will have to get some eye drops from the vet.
keep cleaning it out and if it gets worse then take it to the vet.
My Kittens also do that too. I just take a Q-tip and wipe them away
Try a warm towel and wipe it clean. This is common for small kittens, also you can use most meds on pets that you do for humans, so try some eye drops or eye cream.
It's a sign of illness. Take your kitten to the vet now.
Grab a washcloth and carefully get the crust off his of her eyes : ) if it dosn't stop it may be a disese. you must take it to the vet RIGHT AWAY! And make sure it is comfortable and happy.
get some cotton wool and warm water and gently clean out the eyes. you might have to do this for a few days till it clears up
its probably lukemia, get the cat to the vet pronto, until then, just wipe his eyes with a damp cloth
wipe it away gently with a warm wash cloth
Boric acid. Don't worry, it's really really mild, doesn't sting a bit. You can use it in your own eyes, it's actually very soothing. You can get it at many grocery stores, or at your local feed store, etc. In Powdered or granulated form, you mix it with warm water until dissolved, dip a cotton ball in it and gently wash their eyes. It dissolves the crusties and helps keep them from coming back. Safe as saline.
take a warm washcloth and wipe it gently until the kitten can open the eye and you can clean off all the ****. I would say if this still continues to happen go to the vet...they will probably give you some eye ointment to get rid of an infection

goodluck
my cat had that before and it ended up being a cold. I took her to the vet and they gave me a medicine for her. it worked wonders
put Neosporin. It wont sting their eyes and your kitten's eyes will be better in a couple hours
I grew up on a ranch, and this was a very common problem. My mom's gentle remedy that she made us kids do was run half a sink full (bathroom) of warm water, warmer than cooler, and add borax (boric acid), which comes in a little box, like baking soda, kinda. It will say on the box how much to use. Borax takes awhile to get out of the bodily system, so use as little as you can get away with so as not to hurt the kitten's kidneys. It will not hurt their eyes, it will just act as a gentle insecticide/antifungal. After you use the solution with borax once, you won't need to repeat, BUT you should use warm water and a clean cotton ball to clean the eye as much as needed - we usually did three or four times a day for about two days, and it'd be gone. It's easier than it all sounds, so just do it! :)
You should call a veterinarian immediately- don't try to fix this on your own, and even though this may be a simple problem, it could be someithing very serious.

My cat was born so small, the tubes behind her eyes that flush out the eye gunk don't work, so her eyes are constantly excreting black gunk. Its harmless, but it really bugs her so we clear it out every few days.

Don't scrape, scrub or pick at your kitten's eyes. Here's how to do it gently:
You will need a cotton-ball or two, and ointment (if you need it) from the vet. Run the water in the sink until it's nice and warm and get the cotton-ball wet (but not soaking). Then, softly press the cotton-ball on the kitten's eyes (this will soften the goop). Then gently wipe the goop off of his eye. My cat was afraid of this at first, but now she really likes it because it feels good.

Likely, your kitten's problem is temporary, but the most important things is to call the veterinarian!!! Hope this helps.
If the eye is swollen or red or has puss, kitty needs to go the the vet for medication. Not properly treating an eye infection in time can result in blindness. With the right meds, eye infections clear up nicely.

As to the crust, wash it with a bit of plain warm water and a cotton swab, toilet paper or something like that.

Don't use any medications or home remedies without first consulting a vet. It's not worth the risk.

Please spay mama cat as soon as the kittens are weened. Unfortunately there are more kittens being born than there are homes for.

Gently wash the eyes with a warm washcloth. Continue this and monitor for a few days. If no improvement, take the kitten to the vet. It could be an upper respiratory infection or something else. Don't let it go to long.
