Onyx was always one of my favorites due largely in part to my love of gemstones and such.
My black cat was General Norman Schwartzcat (schwartz being German for black) but that doesn't help you as you have a girl.
Catwoman from the comic series real name was Patience Phillips, so maybe Patience would be a good name (and you need patience when you have a cat...)
My girlfriend has a black cat named Puma, and I really like that.
We have a black cat named Jinx, and boy has he ever lived up to that name :)

ours was all black exept a white spot on her throat so we named her snowflake. we almost named her velvet which seems fitting for yours.

I once took in a black cat that the previous owner named Thirteen. Everyone loved the name but I couldn't take credit.
We had a black cat named Shadow. It fit him because he followed us around like a shadow. How about Onyx or Midnight as a couple of other ideas?
