What age do kittens start eating solids?

Answers:
They can start eating some solid food at about age 5 -6 weeks, but if there is a mom cat, keep letting her nurse them too until she chooses to wean them - that will give them the best nourishment. My vet suggests using a dry kitten chow, putting it in a bowl %26 covering it with water, let it set awhile until the water is absorbed %26 the food is soft. She says canned food is too rich for their little stomachs, and not to feed that, but that you can mix a spoonful into the moistened dry kitten chow for extra flavor. She raises lots of orphaned kittens for rescue groups and sometimes has 50 or 60 at a time, so she's the expert on this.
about 5 weeks start introducing some moist food with the solid kitten food then at about 6 1/2 weeks take the moist away.
6 Months is an appropriate TIME but if desperate at 3 weeks.
Around 5-6 weeks, start on can moist food first. My kitten was 5 weeks when I got him and he didnt have a problem eating can food, now he is 6 week's and he eat's Meow-Mix for kittens, they are small and perfect for him.
Kittens can be started on softened kitten chow about 4 or 5 weeks. Don't be frustrated if they walk in it and refuse to eat it. Put this mush in where they can see Mom eat it and they will follow her lead.
If they are foster kittens or bottle kittens you'll have to make the mush and tuck just tiny bits into their mouths. Don't forget to be patient when they spit it out our bite you.
This is all new to them and it will take some time.
Good luck with them.
when they have full grown tooth
start weaning around 4 weeks but you may find they won't take anything til they are 5 weeks. start with lactol milk on a spoon then go onto solids. usually around 5 weeks they are ready for kitten solid food. be careful don't feed them whiskas as their stomachs may not tolerate it as its pretty rich. kittens should be totally weaned by 7-8 weeks and ready for their new homes. good luck and have lots of fun.
When they're full grown
I started giving my kittens canned food at about 5-6 weeks when I noticed their mom wasn't feeding them as often as before and pushing them away anytime they wanted food. They seemed to take it well and are now eating hard food as well. My vet told me that once their teeth start coming in, they are able to eat hard food. The hard food helps clean and nourish their growing teeth and it is good for them. They are still somewhat being fed by their mother, now at 9 weeks, but not as often as before and are receiving majority of their nutrition from the canned and dry food.

Best wishes!
My pet cats started eating solids when they were about a month old.
