What can you do for cats that dont pee in there litter box?and why do they do that?

Answers:
Firstly, is this a new development? If your cat has used the litter box before and is suddenly not doing so, he or she most likely has a urinary tract infection or disease (stones, sand, etc).

If your cat has never used a litter box it's because they don't understand what it is yet. Most cats will instinctually be attracted to the litter as a good place to do their business, but some cats just don't get it. There are ways to train them to use it, but that wasn't in your question so I won't go into it =P
There are many parts to this answer. First, how old is the cat and has it used the box before? You may be dealing with a urinary problem that should be checked by a vet. Have you changed the manufacturer/type of litter recently? This can cause cats to eliminate outside the box. Have you added another cat to the household? You may need addtional boxes. If you are not dealing with an infection, which only your vet can determine, try "Cat Attract" litter. It's excellent at re-training your cat to the box.

Is your cat a male? Has it been fixed? How old is it? The most common reason is to mark their territory when they become sexually mature at approx 6 mon old. Its called spraying and male cats will do this to leave their scent. If this is the case, it is very hard to correct once it has started. The 1st step for this scenario is to get the cat fixed. I hope this helped, You didn't give much information to work off of.
Well i have 2 cats and if the litter box smells a little one of them refuses to use the box and pees on the clothes [the box is in the laundry room]. so the box has to be cleaned quite frequently. I also know that my manager's cat has done the same thing, she refuses to pee in the box. She has gone to the vet and everything seems to be fine, so my manager has now put down a puppy-pee-pee pad at a specific spot in the house and the cat has now learned to pee on that instead of on the carpet. Check with your vet first and try to figure out if they've got an infection. If not try these! .. good luck
if it's not clean or there's another cat that also uses it then it will deter a cat using it.
